Energize Tacoma's Last Quarter Update: Exciting Progress and Ambitions for 2025
As we close out the last quarter of 2024, we’re thrilled to share what’s been happening with Energize Tacoma. This quarter marked a turning point for our organization, with a lot happening in a short span since April to now. Over these months, we’ve seen our nonprofit take shape, fueled by our community’s support and the commitment of our dedicated steering committee. Moving forward, our meetings will kick off at the start of each quarter, giving us the time to dive deeper into strategic planning and ensuring our goals align with the community’s needs.
One of the most exciting developments for our community is the new skatepark set to open in the heart of downtown Tacoma’s Dome District. This park is a wonderful addition, bringing vibrancy to an area we’ve long seen as ripe for creative growth. In a city where space is precious, finding ways to activate underused or neglected spaces not only revitalizes the neighborhood but also creates new opportunities for culture, art, and recreation. The park’s design plans have even indicated that local art will play a central role in beautifying the space—a development we wholeheartedly support. We say, bring it on!
Reflecting on 2024, we’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made. Our programs, such as the Canvas Art Collective and Black Contemporaries, showcase the power of community collaboration and the incredible talent of Tacoma’s artists. These installations are more than just art; they’re statements of Tacoma’s commitment to amplifying local culture and celebrating artists who bring unique perspectives to our community. These programs show 25 art pieces from local artists that are then displayed in lower income communities of Hilltop and Dome District.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re more inspired than ever to support these programs and, potentially, to expand our offerings. With the Dome District and surrounding areas evolving, Energize Tacoma will continue to be a driving force for positive change. We’re planning even more impactful projects that align with our mission to champion art, culture, and public engagement, fostering a city where creativity and community flourish together.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to a bright new year filled with more installations, vibrant community spaces, and a cityscape enriched by the arts!
